During the today's Midday press briefing, EU Commission has announced that letters of formal notice requesting for information, have been sent to Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Cyprus, Latvia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Romania, concerning the cage-eggs ban. This is the first step of the infringemement procedure of Article 258 of the Lisbon Treaty TFEU, providing "If the Commission considers that a Member State has failed to fulfill an obligation under the Treaties, it shall deliver a reasoned opinion on the matter after giving the State concerned the opportunity to submit its observations.
